(Racing 92) Ali Williams about to be fired

On the night of February 24-25, the second line Ali Williams and the three-quarters James O'Connor were arrested in Paris in possession of 2.4 grams of cocaine. In the aftermath, both players were laid off by their respective clubs. The Francilian will go to court for drug trafficking while the Varois has been fined. In addition, both players will have to explain to the Disciplinary Committee of the National League of Rugby on Wednesday 29 March and risk a long suspension. The president of Racing 92, Jacky Lorenzetti, who was questioned in the columns of the Midi Olympique on Friday, announced that he had made a radical decision in this case: he will simply dismiss his player. Extract: "Ali is a nice guy. A nice type but he's going to freak and lose the noodle. It's human: when you're at the top, you tend to think you're untouchable, invincible. But nobody lives like that. It's inexcusable. The club laid off the player on learning of his custody. He is no longer ambassador for Racing and, unfortunately, Ali Williams will soon be fired. But that will not stop us from listening to him and giving him a helpinghand outside of rugby. Personally, I just advised him to go green some time. " President Francilien revisits the explanations he has received from his player. Extract: "It is a sequence of circumstances. He had a party, they were a whole group ... Well ... He was checked negative to the coke. I'm not saying it's not a consumer. But I saw him on Monday and the man was collapsed. His life has shifted. Ali had before him a boulevard, a highway itself. He could have done great things to the New Zealand federation or elsewhere. And he screwed it up. " To conclude, Jacky Lorenzetti discovers that cocaine may have become a scourge in rugby. Extract: "I do not see evil everywhere. I am optimistic, but today I discover what may be a scourge. I myself am not a consumer. I never even shot a joint of my life. So I would tend to be intolerant. " To prevent this kind of case from happening again, the boss of the club Francilien decided to take action. Extract: "We will take action. Next season, our players will piss in a jar and be checked every morning. Last week, Thomas Lombard told me that at the time he was playing in England, he was checked every day by his club doctor. So for us, the solution may be to turn our players into Manneken-Pis ... "
